Jair Almeida de Souza, accused of fatally shooting Edvaldo Carlos Ramos, known as ‘Gringo’, on January 1, 2023, at 6:30 am, in a residence on Rua Anhanguera, in the Vila Piratininga neighborhood, in Campo Grande , filed an appeal at the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul (TJMS) seeking to avoid a trial by jury.
Jair’s defense argues to the TJMS that there is not enough evidence to prove his responsibility for the crime. Furthermore, they requested the exclusion of the qualifiers, alleging a lack of justification for the aggravating factors of “futile motive” and “recourse that made the victim’s defense difficult”. The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul (MPMS), responsible for the accusation in the criminal action, opposes the granting of the appeal.
The case is now in the hands of the TJMS judges, who will analyze the arguments presented. At the time of the investigations, according to delegate Rodolfo Daltro, from the 5th Civil Police Station, the crime was motivated by passion, related to a dispute between the suspect and the victim over a woman, who was a call girl.
