Industrial production prices fell 2.3% in February, INE announces

“O IPPI recorded a year-on-year reduction of 2.3%, intensifying by 0.2 pp [pontos percentuais] the negative variation recorded in the previous month”, says INE in a statement released today.

According to the statistics institute, for this evolution “the groupings of intermediate goods and energy were decisive, with variation rates of -7.5% and -3.0%, respectively, in February (-8.7 % and -0.8% in January)”.

These groups contributed -2.8 pp to intermediate goods and -0.5 pp to energy (-3.2 pp and -0.1 pp, in the same order, in the previous month).

Without the energy grouping, the year-on-year drop in the aggregate index was -2.2%, against -2.4% in January.

In monthly terms, industrial production prices increased 0.4% in February, compared to 0.6% in the same month of the previous year and in January of this year.
