Average wheat price drops by up to 30% in one year in Brazil | Wheat

Domestic wheat prices went through March practically stable, but monthly averages were still well below those recorded a year ago, reports the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) at Esalq/USP.

In São Paulo, for example, the average value last month was R$ 1,222.99 per ton, a strong drop of 30.6% compared to March 2023. In Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, the devaluations in the annual comparison were 24%, 19.4% and 12.6%, respectively, with the averages for the ton falling to R$ 1,241.66, R$ 1,173.65 and R$ 1,394.80, in the same order .

In general, according to Cepea researchers, business remains punctual in the domestic market. While producers remain focused on the summer harvest, buyers are looking for quality wheat, whose domestic availability is low.
