Operation arrests three suspects in the murder of father and 2-year-old daughter

Three people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a father and 2-year-old daughter. The warrants were carried out this Tuesday (2), in Goiânia, Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro.

The action took place jointly between the Civil Police of Goiás and the Civil Police of Mato Grosso.

In total, four search and seizure warrants were executed at addresses linked to those investigated in Goiânia and Aragarças (MT).

According to delegate Rhaniel Almeida, vehicles and cell phones were seized. In addition, telephone confidentiality was also requested. A fourth suspect is still at large.

Murder of father and daughter

Investigations indicate that a group of traffickers from Goiás were responsible for the death of the two victims in Barra do Garças (MT), on February 9th.

João Victor Menez Soares, 22, and his 2-year-old daughter, were shot dead after two men broke into the family home. The child’s mother was also in the residence and was shot in the hand, but survived.

The child was rescued and taken to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), but he did not survive his injuries, according to the police.

Information indicates that João Vitor was a member of a criminal organization and tried to leave. According to police, the suspects were from a rival criminal group.

After the incident, the suspects fled the scene. At the crime scene, police found three blood-stained cell phones and two pieces of marijuana. João Vitor also had a criminal record and was a fugitive from justice.

The family lived in Goiânia and, according to reports from the child’s mother, had moved to Barra do Garças about six months ago.
