If you’re a fan of “Squid Game”, you can’t miss the K-dramas that will arrive on Netflix during the month of May.

Over the next month you can expect the arrival of several K-dramas and a reality show, with well-known faces. In terms of series, you can’t miss “The 8 Show”, a series that is already being compared to “Squid Game”.

THE 8 SHOW (SEASON 1)

This K-drama mixes drama, mystery and thriller, will premiere on May 17th on Netflix. The cast includes Ryu Jun Yeol (“Reply 1988”, “Alienoid: Return to the Future”), Chun Woo Hee (“Delightfully Deceitful”, “Unlocked”), Park Jeong Min (“Hellbound”, “Smugglers”), Lee Yeol Eum (“Nevertheless”, “Queen: Love and War”) and Park Hae Joon (“Arthdal Chronicles”, “20th Century Girl”).

This series is a live-action adaptation of Bae Jin Soo’s webtoon “Money Game”. If you are a fan of “Squid Game” this series is for you as it has a similar premise. Eight people, desperate for money, enter a game where they are trapped inside a studio and have to survive for 100 days. Sounds easy, right? It turns out that all the necessities that players need, such as food, electricity and water, cost 1000 times more than normal and this cost comes out of the final prize.

This K-drama has garnered a lot of curiosity due to its similarities to “Squid Game”, but will it have the same success?


FRANKLY SPEAKING (SEASON 1)

This K-drama mixes drama, romance and comedy, will premiere on May 1st on Netflix. The cast includes Go Kyung Pyo (“DP”, “Connect”, “Love in Contract”), Kang Han Na (“Start-Up”, “Designated Survivor: Korea”, “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”), Joo Jong Hyuk (“Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, “Happiness”) and Shin Jung Keun (“Hotel del Luna”, “The Killing Vote”).

This series follows the story of a single television star who suddenly stops being able to maintain his good manners and starts saying the first thing that comes into his head. This gains the public’s attention and a writer for a popular program wants him to be part of it.


THE ATYPICAL FAMILY (SEASON 1)

This K-drama mixes drama, fantasy and romance, will premiere on May 4th on Netflix. Its cast includes Jang Ki Yong (“My Roommate is a Gumiho”, “Now, We Are Breaking Up”), Chun Woo Hee, Go Doo Shim (“Twinkling Watermelon”, “Island”, “Our Blues”), Claudia Kim (“Avengers: Age of Ultron”, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”) and Park So Yi (“Jung_E”, “Vanishing”, “Revenant”).

This series follows a family who have superpowers, but in particular one of the members who can travel back in time to the happy moments of his life. However, he ends up being diagnosed with depression and loses his powers. This will also affect other members of your family who lose their powers as well. One day a young woman enters their lives and begins to live with them, being the key to this family regaining their powers.


SUPER RICH IN KOREA

During the month of May, “Super Rich in Korea” finally arrives on Netflix. This program will feature three well-known presenters: BamBammember of GOT7 and solo artist; Mimigroup member Oh My Girl It is youtuber; It is Jo Se Hoa comedian who hosts several programs such as “You Quiz on the Block”, “Beat Coin”and was even part of the K-drama “My Love from the Star”.

This program will follow the lives of South Korea’s super rich. However, it will not only focus on South Korean families, but also on foreigners who call the country home. They are: a member of the Pakistani royal family, an Italian fashion prodigy, and an Arab influencer.
