In this travel documentary series, Conan O’Brien (well-known comedian who hosted “The Tonight Show” for many years) will learn about cultures and fans he previously spoke to on his podcast (“Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend”).

In the first season, with four episodes, Conan and his team went to Norway, Argentina, Thailand and Ireland — without any of the fans having the slightest idea that the presenter intended to knock on their doors.

For example, in the first episode, Conan lost his luggage in northern Europe, but that didn’t stop him from dressing like a Viking, fighting in the snow like a true warrior or… knitting while slightly drunk.

João Dinis, confessing to not being one of the biggest fans of Conan’s type of humor, liked what he saw and found the concept funny. “The fan reactions really seemed genuine. And it’s funny to see how people from different cultures react to the surprise of him appearing in front of them.”

Mariana Santos, on the other hand, explains that she “neither particularly likes nor dislikes series about travel”, but that she appreciates the type of humor with physical embarrassment — which Conan practices, albeit in a way that she considers not excessive. “I like the idea of ​​thinking, oh my God, this is so embarrassing. I can’t imagine what I would do if I was in this situation,” she says.

For his part, Miguel Magalhães likes that “Conan O’Brien Must Go” does something that this type of travel series does not normally do: show the lives of people, who are not mere props in the landscapes and image plans.

“I liked that he didn’t worry about showing that, oh, in Norway you have to go and see these places. Or, in Thailand, you have to go and see these places. No, he was concerned with talking to people and breaking down the cultural differences that are very specific and that differ from his reality as an American”, he concludes.
