They killed 107 people: what do Russian soldiers who were in Ukraine do (in Russia)

Another 100 soldiers’ victims were seriously injured. Most cases happen at home – and alcohol is “to blame”.

You Russian soldiers who went through the war in Ukraine caused damage and victims, not only in Ukraine, but in Russia itself.

According to an accounting by Verstka, which analyzed news and data from Russian Justice, Russian soldiers who returned from the war have already killed 107 people since the beginning of the war.

In total, the number of victims exceeds 200, as at least 100 were seriously injured.

Among these, 70 were at risk of death, 16 were victims of attempted murder, 10 were injured in road accidents, 3 were victims of “exceeding the limits of necessary defense” and one was seriously injured “due to negligence”.

They were 84 crimes with victims, committed by Russian military personnel who participated in Ukraine. The majority ended in homicide: 55 crimes, which killed 76 people.

The majority of military criminals (91) are pardoned prisoners. Of these, 45 pardoned war participants killed again; at least 24 people turned out to be repeat offenders – more than one crime after returning from the war.

In the cases analyzed, the majority of crimes occur inside the home – domestic violence – and due to excess alcohol: while drinking together, the soldiers attack acquaintances, neighbors or random people.

There are not many details about this last type of crimes, but the organization estimates that it is often personal insults directed at war participants or their families that lead to homicide or serious aggression; or else unpleasant words about war.
