A Metropolitan police revealed, early this Tuesday afternoon, that a 14-year-old boy died following the attack with a sword that injured five people in Hainault, London, United Kingdom.

“It is with great sadness that I confirm that one of those injured in the incident, a 13-year-old boy, has passed away from his injuries.”declared Inspector Stuart Bell at a press conference, according to the British media.

“He was taken to hospital after being stabbed and, unfortunately, he died shortly afterwards”he added.

However, the police made a new clarification, stating that the minor was 14 years old and not 13, as previously reported.

The young victim’s family is now receiving specialized support.

Four other people were injured, two civilians not seriously and two police officers who will need surgery due to stab wounds. “The injuries are significant, but we think at this point that they are not life-threatening,” said the same person in charge.

The London Metropolitan Police stressed that they are trying to establish “all the facts as a priority” of this “horrible” event.

“I know that the families of those involved, the local community and the wider community and many people across the city of London will want to know why this terrible incident occurred. It is up to us to find out – and we will. It’s our duty”, assured the inspector.

The police also confirmed the arrest of a 36-year-old man – who is in police custody – who was immobilized using a taser.

“I want to confirm that we do not think that there continues to be any danger to the general population and we are not looking for anyone else” in connection with the incident, he stressed.

The suspect was “subjected to an electric shock at the scene and detained 22 minutes after the first call to the police, shortly before 7:00 am”, the person in charge also highlighted, confirming that the incident it is not being considered as “a targeted attack” and “does not appear to be related to terrorism”.

Bell described the morning’s events as “truly horrific” and indicated that the investigation into the full circumstances is still in its infancy, and that he will only provide more information when possible.

The Metropolitan Police received an alert shortly before 7am that a vehicle had been driven into a house in the Thurlow Gardens area and that people there had been attacked by a man armed with a sword.
