“NATO Allies [Organização do Tratado do Atlântico Norte] are deeply concerned about recent malign activities on Allied territory, including those that have resulted in the investigation and prosecution of several individuals in connection with state-hostile activities affecting the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the United Kingdom,” it states the organization in a statement.

According to the Atlantic Alliance’s main decision-making body, “these incidents are part of an increasingly intense campaign of activities that Russia continues to carry out across the Euro-Atlantic area, including on Alliance territory and through representatives”.

At issue are activities of “disinformation, sabotage, acts of violence, cyber and electronic interference, disinformation campaigns and other hybrid operations”, lists NATO.

The North Atlantic Council guarantees: “We support and stand in solidarity with the affected Allies, we will act individually and collectively to address these actions and we will continue to coordinate closely. We will continue to strengthen our resilience and apply and improve the instruments we have to counter and contest Russian hybrid actions and ensure that the Alliance and Allies are prepared to deter and defend against hybrid actions or attacks.”

Furthermore, the Allies say they express “deep concern” that these Russian attacks are a “threat to the security” of the entire Atlantic Alliance.

“We condemn Russia’s behavior and call on Russia to fulfill its international obligations, just as the Allies fulfill theirs. Russia’s actions will not dissuade Allies from continuing to support Ukraine,” given the Russian invasion that began in February 2022.

In the European Union, there have been warnings of alleged Russian interference and disinformation, particularly in the electoral campaign for the European elections, scheduled for June 6th to 9th.
