VSeveral regions of France were hit this Wednesday afternoon by heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The regions of Yonne and Burgundy were the first to feel the arrival of the rain, which then spread to the entire Ile-de-France region, writes Le Parisien.

Images shared by several internet users on social media allow us to understand the intensity of the storm.

In some places it rained hail and there were traffic constraints.

The intense rain also led to the cancellation of several flights.

Météo France had placed the entire Ile-de-France region under orange alert (level 3 out of 4). The French Observatory of Tornadoes and Storms, in turn, had placed part of the region under red alert, which corresponds to level 4 out of 5, according to its classification.

Impressive images shared also show how the sky was filled with lightning and thunder. Many claim (and prove with images) that the Eiffel Tower was struck by lightning.

The showers are expected to continue this Thursday. According to Météo France, eight departments remain under orange alert due to the same storm phenomena.
