Perhaps due to lack of knowledge, not considering that the act they are carrying out could be considered a cybercrime, young Europeans recognize that they have already been involved in an act that may be punishable by law. But what is the most common cybercrime committed by young people?

 

Around 50% of respondents admitted to having committed some form of cybercrime

According to a recent study, the most recurrent crime committed by young people was digital piracy, with one in three young people admitting to doing so. According to Lusa, 20 key behaviors were selected, of which 13 are cybercriminals and the remaining seven are deviant attitudes or dangerous acts, such as 'sexting' or sharing violent images.

Around 50% of respondents admitted to having committed some form of cybercrime. In addition to digital piracy, young people also admitted to frequenting illegal gambling markets (one fifth) or accepting money laundering or transporting money from one place to another.

“One in eight young people worked as a financial mule”, highlighted Tito de Morais. This is followed by hate speech, 'cyberbullying' or 'hacking', which are practiced by around 10% of young people.

One in eleven young people admitted to having been involved in phishing actions to obtain personal data from third parties, sharing intimate content without authorization, carrying out online fraud, participating in identity theft or engaging in racist or xenophobic speech. One in five admitted to having exchanged erotic messages ('sexting') or having shared violent materials
