Lininha da Valeta, an emblematic figure of Arcos de Valdevez, who died last year, aged 101, will be immortalized with a realistic painting, by Daniela Guerreiro, on the door of her house.

“The ‘MurArcos’ Festival, promoted by the Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, met today [ontem] the result of the complementary intervention carried out in recent days by the artist Daniela Guerreiro, marking a heartfelt tribute from the city council and all Arcuenses to Lininha da Valeta, a figure that everyone cherishes with great nostalgia and affection”, says the municipality.

And he adds: “These small, spontaneous interventions are also a hallmark of this festival, which in the summer of this year will return to the streets of the town, again with several national and international names that make this the most important meeting of urban art in the region”.

“How spectacular this painting was! Lininha, a mythical figure from Arcos de Valdevez and particularly from the historic area of ​​Valletta. Congratulations Daniela Guerreiro”, highlights the Parish Union of S. Salvador, Vila Fonche and Parada.

As O MINHO reported, Lina Barbosa, known as Lininha da Valeta, died on June 26, 2023, aged 101.

Living in Largo da Valeta, parish of S. Salvador, Lininha da Valeta was also one of the oldest women in Minho.

In 2022, when he celebrated his 100th birthday, on April 21st, he was thrown a big party, with family, friends, acquaintances and municipal officials.

The centenary party then simultaneously marked 20 years of the local association Folia.

At the time of her death, Teresa Falcão Teixeira dedicated a poem to her in which she remembers Lininha “always laughing at the window”.

“He said hello to everyone / and he was very local / He will be greatly missed / because he was very traditional”, we can also read.
