According to data released today by the institution led by Paulo Macedo, CGD carried out around 21,000 spread reduction operations, with an accumulated value of approximately 2,100 million euros. These operations represented around 8.5% of the total value of the credit portfolio.

In turn, the public bank carried out close to 17,400 operations to change to fixed rate, equivalent to 2,000 million euros and around 8.1% of its total mortgage loan portfolio.

According to the bank, around 1,300 restructurings were carried out under the Government’s decree-law (80-A/2022) which forces the renegotiation of contracts in specific cases. As for the law that allows customers to set the installment for two years (paying 70% of Euribor as a reference), CGD has 850 contracts in this situation.

CGD also has 5,600 housing credit contracts that benefit from subsidized interest (the State pays part of the interest).

Caixa Geral de Depósitos had record profits of 1,291 million euros in 2023, 53% more than the 843 million euros obtained in 2022, it was announced today.
