forget the no-ip service! This one has everything you need

-

Are you looking for a service that works like no-ip, but is free, or better still, that doesn’t require renewal every 30 minutes? Have you ever heard of dynu?

Like no-ip, dynu is a service that allows you to translate the dynamic IP address of your router, computer or other equipment, (for example: 81.112.159.76) into a “name” like pplware.ddns.net.

This service provides a Control Panel so that you can easily manage all records created.

But how does this service work?

Let's consider that you have a Raspberry PI, connected to the Wi-Fi network at home and it has the private address 192.168.1.10, so it is only reachable on the private network. However, as a gateway, it is associated with the router's private address (e.g. 192.168.1.254) which allows it to “exit” to the Internet through the public address that is also associated with the router. It is this public address that we will use to reach our equipment from the outside (note that it is also possible to assign a public address directly to a device – find out more here).

So, with the dynu service we can “map” the public address to a name (ex. pplware.ddnsfree.om).

In the service management interface, there are many other options that we will explore in the near future, such as:

  • Domain Registrations
  • Email services
  • SSL Certificates
  • DNS Failover
  • Virtual Private Servers
  • ...and various networking tools

Happy Settings! We're here for something. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments. Compared to other services we have already analyzed, Dynu seems to be one of the most complete, with options for almost everything that exists at this level. Try it!
