One of the new buses from Transportes Urbanos de Braga (TUB) crashed this Friday morning on Avenida Central, in Braga, and ended up running over several people who were on the sidewalk.
According to a source from the authorities, confirmed to Diário do Minho, there is already one confirmed death, as well as several injured. The Firefighters and Volunteers of Braga are on site, with support from INEM.
According to sources, the bus traveling on Avenida Central collided with two cars, knocked over an electricity pole and ended up coming to rest on the sidewalk, fatally striking a pedestrian, at around 11:25.
In addition to the fatal victim, a municipal employee in the tourism sector, there was also a minor injury reported, said the Cávado Sub-Regional Command.
According to the commander of the Braga Firefighters, Nuno Osório, the slightly injured person is the driver, who is also receiving psychological support from INEM.
On site are the Firefighters and Volunteers of Braga, members of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), the Municipal Civil Protection Services of Braga and the councilor responsible for the Civil Protection of Braga.
