Almost 25% of landlords are struggling with rent arrears

Associação Lisbonense de Proprietários points out that the biggest change compared to the last six editions of the survey it carries out is related to the fact that the share of landlords who have defaulted on rent for more than six months is greater, corresponding to more than 30% of those who have arrears of rent.

Almost a quarter of landlords (23.6%) are faced with non-compliance with the payment of rent by their tenants, reports DN/Dinheiro Vivo this Wednesday, citing data from the Barometer of the Lisbon Owners Association – ALP.

According to the ALP, this is a phenomenon that has remained “sustainably high” throughout the seven editions of this survey.

“The biggest change compared to the last six editions is the fact that the share of landlords who have defaulted on rent for more than six months leads globally among those who are sustaining losses of half a year. In this sample, 30.3% of owners who have rent arrears”, indicates the association, specifying that “those who accumulate losses of two to three months of income represent 28% of the responses”.
