Announced years ago, the construction of a parking silo in park 3 of Hospital de Santo André (HSA), in Leiria, will begin on Monday, and is expected to be completed in February of next year. Until then, the park, which borders Rua Paulo VI, will be closed, with the existing parking lot in Olhalvas, in front of Intermaché, being presented as an alternative.
The new silo will create almost 200 new parking spaces, increasing the capacity of park 3 from 370 to 560 spaces. “HSA will now have 1,117 parking spaces available for users and professionals”, highlights Licínio de Carvalho, president of the Board of Directors (CA) of the Local Health Unit of the Leiria Region (ULS RL).
While the works are taking place, the administration of ULS RL calls on hospital users and professionals to use the park in front of the “Olhalvas Park” commercial space, which is free and has a capacity for around 700 seats. In a statement, the institution recalls that there is a pedestrian connection between this park and the external consultation area, next to “Burger King, served by a gate that is open “every day” for 24 hours.
In that press release, those responsible for the hospital also advise the use of public transport, namely Mobilis – Transportes Urbanos de Leiria, which has two stops inside the HSA.
Along with the construction of the silo, “improvement of access to the park is planned, with the creation of a second entrance to it”, informs the CA, revealing that a third lane will be built, parallel to the existing ones and which will only be used for access to the silo. parking, “leaving the other two lanes free for other car traffic”.
According to the ULS RL press release, it is also planned to expand the area of park 3, with the consequent “increase in parking spaces, and improvements to internal circulation routes”.
