The giant’s marketing team only lasted four months

About four months after its creation, Tesla fired the team it brought together to work in the marketing area and to dedicate itself to growth.

In fact, advertisements about Tesla are not abundant, and the brand has grown without directly resorting to advertising. In May 2023, however, Elon Musk promised investors that the company would “try a little advertising and see how it goes.” In January, that promise was fulfilled, with the creation of a marketing team.

Several challenges later, the company has already fired around 40 members of that team. In fact, according to the press, just four months after launching the team dedicated to marketing and growth, Tesla abruptly fired the entire department.

As shared by Elon Musk on X, “the ads were too generic – it could have been any car”.

The Tesla CEO's comment came in response to that of Nic Cruz Patane, who gave his opinion regarding Tesla's announcements. As he said, “Tesla could have done a better job” highlighting more of the attributes of its cars.

This dissolution of the marketing team, which would be working on Tesla's growth, comes along with less than encouraging numbers for the first quarter of the year and problems related to Cybertruck.

Although the marketing team hasn't lasted, Tesla won't be at its best, considering that sales figures for the first quarter of 2024 show a 13.3% drop compared to last year. Furthermore, 10% of its workforce was recently laid off.
