The Lisbon stock exchange ended the day in the green, with most listed companies recording gains. Mota-Engil led the rises, with an appreciation of over 3%, and Galp set historic highs.

The Lisbon stock exchange closed in the green, in line with other European markets. The PSI rose 1.07% to 6,612.51 points, having ended the day at the highs of July 2014. During the day, the main national index went further, reaching 6,685.34 points – the highest intraday value since July 2014.

Analysts have been optimistic about the performance of the PSI. O Analyst consensus, compiled by Bloomberg, points to the Lisbon stock exchange growing almost 18% to 7,942.83 points over the next 12 months.

In today’s session, of the 16 listed companies that make up the index, 11 ended the day with gains, three with losses and two unchanged.

The company that appreciated the most was Mota-Engil, with an increase of 3.54% to 4.208 eurosfollowed by Jerónimo Martins, who gained 2.15% to 19.03 euros. This is after a start in which it soared by almost 6%, riding on the results for the first quarter, released before the start of the session.

In addition to the retailer, the other four heavyweights closed in the green: EDP ​​Renováveis ​​added 1.82% to 12.85 euros, BCP rose 1.44% to 0.3242 euros, Galp grew 1.43% to 20.54 euros – having established a new closing maximum – and EDP ​​appreciated 0.83% to 3.523 euros.

The oil company Galp even reached an all-time high during the session, when it reached 20.68 euros. The company has been valued on the stock exchange since confirmed, last Sunday, the commercial viability of the oil exploration project off Namibia.

Conversely, listed companies in the paper sector led the declines: Navigator lost 0.53% to 4.148 euros and Altri fell 0.39% to 5.17 euros. The devaluation also ended the Sonae, which fell 0.11% to 0.937 euros. Already the Ibersol and the Greenvolt ended the day unchanged, with shares at 7.12 euros and 8.3 euros.
