Do residents of Llucmajor, in Mallorca, Spain, were fined 10,000 and 15,000 euros for fraudulently registering 65 people in two homes, 37 in one and 28 in a one-bedroom studio.
According to a press release from the Central Unit of Immigration Networks and Documentary Falsehoods of the Spanish police, cited by Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera, it was through an investigation that it was possible to conclude that one of the suspects authorized the registration of 37 people of origin Moroccan, most of whom are in an irregular situation. A fine of 15,000 euros was imposed on him.
According to local residents, the man signed them up with the argument that he was doing them a favor.
Furthermore, the same entity imposed a fine of 10,000 euros on another man who was also being investigated. This had registered 28 foreigners, many of them in an irregular situation, in a one-bedroom studio.
The man admitted that the vast majority of them had never lived in the studio and that he authorized registration to help them, since without the registration certificate they have no access to public health, citizenship cards and social services.
