sIf you are a vehicle owner, you must be aware of the Single Circulation Tax (IUC), a tax that is paid by natural or legal persons.

After all, what does it consist of? The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) highlighted three points about the IUC on the social network Facebook. Stay up to date:

  1. It’s from annual frequency;
  2. Due on registration date and respective anniversaries, regardless of use or enjoyment;
  3. AND due until cancellation of registration.

It should be remembered that, “in the first year of registration, including imported vehicles, the IUC must be paid within 30 days after the end of the legal period for registering the vehicle”, according to the ePortugal portal.

“If you purchased the vehicle first-hand from a car dealership, payment is made at the time of purchase. In other cases, the IUC must be paid during the month the vehicle is registered, until you no longer own it or until the registration is canceled In the case of pleasure boats and aircraft, the IUC must be paid in January”, it is further explained.
