Decathlon distributes 1.5 million euros to workers in Portugal – Commerce

Decathlon Portugal announced, this Tuesday, the distribution of a total of 1.5 million euros among 1,800 workerspayable in the form of shares.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the fashion and sporting goods brand indicates that this bonus results from the distribution of profits obtained in 2023.

At a global level, the French giant’s turnover grew 4.4% to 15.6 billion euros in 2023, the year in which it achieved profits of 931 million euros, an increase of 0.8% compared to the net profit of 923 million calculated in 2022. In Portugal, however, the company declines to reveal the accounts. Decathlon Portugal highlights that it has been the practice to “distribute part of the economic success with its employees” since 2010.

The amount distributed, which represents 7% of each employee’s annual incomeis received in the form of shareswith each employee being able to decide to allocate 50% in another form of savings or in cash, details the company.

Looking ahead to 2023, Decathlon Portugal recalls that it decided to increase the minimum gross monthly remuneration to 1,040 euros, that it revised entry values ​​for middle leadership roles by approximately 9% and invested around 4.4 million euros in monthly performance bonuses for 100% of employees.
