Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) announced, this Wednesday, that it closed 2023 with losses of 18.8 million euros, compared to profits of 48.3 million euros in 2022.

The company, through information released by the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), justifies the negative value with the “application of changes to tax legislation introduced by the State Budget Law of 2023, namely, the combined effect of the introduction into the Statute of the Tax Benefits of the Tax Regime for the Incentive to Capitalization of Companies with the change in the tax loss deduction regime”.

Thus, the group’s turnover was, in 2023, 1201 million euros, 30 million euros more than in 2022. EBITDA (operating result) fell by 62 million euros to 448 million euros.

Miguel Cruz, executive president of IP, highlights the investment in 2023 in the railway and road networks (excluding maintenance and PPP charges) which amounted to 621 million euros, 31% more compared to 2022 and the highest value since 2010. Of this amount , 550 million euros went to the requalification and modernization of the National Railway Network, says the person responsible, in the note.

In turn, the group’s operating expenses increased by 82 million euros to 1,163 million euros and debt fell by 288 million euros to 3,857 million euros.
