The Barcelos company Cottonanswer, dedicated to the manufacture of underwear, had revenues of around 23 million euros in 2023, said the company’s CEO, pointing to the continuous investment in production to reach these numbers.
It is recalled that this brand purchased assets and land from Têxtil do Minho, a company with several partners based in Lijó, after it encountered financial problems and was about to lay off around 80 workers in 2013, after the second generation of partners had a disagreement.
In this case, it was an intervention carried out by the engineer António Santos, who had also been a partner in the former company, and decided to keep the machinery and land, incorporating workers.
Now, 10 years later, António Santos, quoted by T newspaper, ensures that “investments have been supported by support lines, namely PT2020 and PRR”, through the ‘World Expansion Through Disruptive Design Products’ plan.
He explains that this support allowed the creation of a capacity for differentiation in terms of quality parameters ranging from production, dyeing, finishing, logistics, sustainability, digitalization and employee training.
Cottonanswer had already managed to earn 16 million euros in 2019, doubling the number of workers.
From what O MINHO found, the company has to pay rent to Têxtil do Minho until 2026.
