Supports for windows and panels postponed? Rights are being “defrauded”

-

O Environmental Fund once again postponed support for windows and solar panels, and there is, at this time, no date for the start of payment of reimbursements for 85% of the amount spent on energy efficiency works. DECO PROteste considers that consumers’ expectations and rights are being “defrauded”.

“In view of this situation, we consider that the legitimate expectations and rights of consumers, who in this process fully supported the investment in the energy efficiency solutions recommended by the program, who submitted their duly documented applications and who await a response regarding a possible refund, are being defrauded“, said Pedro Silva, energy specialist at DECO PROteste, speaking to News by the Minute.

According to Jornal de Negócios, the Government has not yet confirmed whether the application evaluation phase has already started, does not commit to a date for its completion and does not reveal when reimbursements of 85% of the amount spent on the construction works will be paid. energy efficiency.

The Environmental Fund should have taken into account the necessary conditions for strict compliance with what is stipulated in the regulations it drafted, remembering that the application deadline for the program ended on October 31. In addition to the financial issue, consumers are not even aware of the eligibility assessment of their application, an assessment that should have started from the moment the application was submitted”, added Pedro Silva.

It should be remembered that it was stipulated in the Notice of the ‘Support Program for More Sustainable Buildings 2023’ that payments would be made from January 2024, but on January 22, 2024 it was announced that there would be a postponement in the evaluation of applications until March/ April, recalls the consumer protection organization.

For consumers in this situation, DECO PROteste advises “formally lodge a complaint with the Environmental Fund, through its reporting channel, which covers the field of consumer protection“, said Pedro Silva.

“DECO PROteste, as the largest consumer protection organization, is already monitoring the issue, being in contact with the Environmental Fund to obtain clarifications, not neglecting possible actions to defend the legitimate interests and rights of consumers”, added the energy specialist at DECO PROteste.

According to Business, For more than six months, around 80,000 applicants have been waiting to find out if they are entitled to reimbursement for the energy efficiency improvements they carried out at homewithin the scope of the latest notice of the Support Program for More Sustainable Buildings 2023.
