A Princess Leonor came of age on October 31, 2023 and recently got her driving license. Now, according to the Spanish press, she will receive a car that she inherited from her father, King Felipe XVI of Spain.
It is a SEAT Ibiza SXI in gold, one of the best-selling cars in Spain, which the monarch himself received from his father, the then King Juan Carlos I, when he turned 18.
Speaking to El Español, Isidre López explained that the car had a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 100 hp, which means it had more power than the standard 86 hp.
At the time, according to the Telecinco station’s ‘Fiesta’ program, the vehicle was custom-made because the Spanish king “is very tall”. The car, which was often used for the king’s escapes and at the Zarzuela Palace, “almost ended up dismantled” after use.
“It took a lot of work, but it ended up in a garage in Barcelona, where it was hidden for years”, added a journalist from the program. The king went “personally” to the Catalan city to collect the vehicle, which he hopes to give to his daughter this summer.
