The pain of actor Ricardo Peres who is fighting lung and bone cancer: “I have no money” – Nacional

Ricardo Peres became known for being part of the biggest phenomenon of improvisational humor in Portugal, the Comedy a La Carte. Now, the actor faces a personal drama. He was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer. Her mother, too, is fighting an oncological disease.

In addition to all this, the artist finds himself without a means of subsistence: “I don’t have the money to even support day-to-day life… If you can help me, it will be a gift that I will do everything to pay you back. Life takes many turns and I love life and the turns it takes”, wrote Ricardo Peres in a text that was shared by a friend, Tânia Lopes, on the ‘GoFundMe’ platform.

I love wood, forests and uniting nature in harmony with construction. AND I am the father of two children, who make me want to live forever. In this whirlwind of life, I came to take care of my mother with cancer and I myself was working and hiding pneumonia, because I couldn’t stop working, I ended up ‘getting’ cancer in my bones and lungs.“

The friend who organized this fundraising campaign explains the situation: “Ricardo was hospitalized at Hospital Pulido Valente, in Lisbon, where, with each passing week, another organ was discovered where this creature was attacking. Today, the 20th March, the Ricardo was discharged from hospital and is with his mother, where they both need face-to-face care and help with the goods they need to continue fighting this disease. Unfortunately, as the mother receives a pension above the minimum wage, it is not possible to be assigned a State assistant, thus having to bear all the costs, which are not enough for both of them, as Ricardo is an independent worker (actor).”
