Who remembers that, in mid-2013, in the soap opera Amor à Vida, many people were expecting Marina Ruy Barbosa to be bald because her character had cancer? Well, at the time, it was one of the most important topics of the year, which was “recovered” this Monday, April 1st.

It all happened after Bella Campos declared that she would only shave her hair for R$5 million. However, one internet user commented:

“If they give Bella a wipe, they have to give it to Marina, who to this day still talks about her not changing her look.”

What no one expected was that Marina Ruy Barbosa would respond to the publication and even explain how it all happened.

“It wasn’t quite like that. At the time I was called, I was told that the character would be one of the protagonists and that we would do a big social action about Nicole’s cancer (my character!). As a soap opera is an open work, everything can change. And changed. The author (Walcyr Carrasco) ended up giving priority to other stories, we wouldn’t do social action,” he said.

“Soon after, there would be a passage of time and I would appear with a wig. In light of the changes, I spoke with Globo’s management at the time and, together, we saw that it made no sense to scrape in the face of the reality that was being presented. I believe that each case is different, it all depends on the text, character and story of each one”, he concluded.
