A rapper Megan Thee Stallion is being accused by former employee Emilio Garcia of “creating a hostile work environment”. In the case delivered to court this Tuesday, the videographer says that the singer also made fun of her physical appearance and recalls how traumatic an episode was in which he had to watch the artist have sexual relations.

“This is a claim for compensation for money, without any claim for sexual harassment, and with obscene accusations”, reacted the lawyers for the rapperarguing that the accusations are solely aimed at “embarrassing” her.

Emilio Garcia began working with Thee Stallion in 2019, as his personal videographer, a position he maintained full-time until June 2023. The complainant says that the artist violated labor laws by changing the contract, starting to pay “per task”, instead of the usual monthly salary, causing him to earn “significantly less”.

With the contractual change, Garcia also says he lost his health insurance, as his professional status became “independent”. Gradually, he was called in for fewer shoots until, last June, Megan Thee Stallion’s record label, Roc Nation, informed him that his services were no longer needed.

The relationship began to deteriorate in 2022, after a trip to Ibiza. In the legal complaint, filed in Los Angeles, Emilio Garcia recalls being “trapped” in a moving car while Megan Thee Stallion was having sex “right next door”. “I felt uncomfortable. I was like frozen and shocked,” he told NBC News.

On the same trip, the singer, known for hits such as Savage or hot girl summer, he allegedly made fun of the videographer’s weight, encouraging him to “spit out his food” or not eat at all. “Hearing someone who defends body acceptance tell me these things, I felt devastated”, he declared to the same publication, detailing that he was with emotional trauma.

Emilio Garcia’s complaint is similar to that raised by former dancers from the same rapper Lizzo. Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez accuse the singer, known for her message of self-love and body acceptance, of sexual and moral harassment, including forcing them to touch a naked person during a party. The artist has denied the accusations.
