The news was reported by “Correio Braziliense”, according to which the head of state regretted Nuno’s “unforgivable” conduct. “He knows that I have a public and political position, and I pay for it”, he said, stressing, however, that “there are worse things in life”.
“I don’t know if he will be held responsible, I don’t care,” he added, noting that, at 51 years old, his son “is older and vaccinated.” The same Brazilian newspaper also stated that the relationship between the two had not been going well for a few months, with the sisters’ case worsening the situation.
It should be remembered that, at the beginning of this month, the General Inspection of Health Activities (IGAS) concluded that the scheduling of the first consultation for the Portuguese-Brazilian twins in Santa Maria did not meet legal requirements. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa confirmed that he had received an email from his son talking about the girls’ case, who needed the drug Zolgensma, for spinal muscular atrophy, being “in a race against time”. Still, he denied any favoritism on the part of the Presidency.
During dinner with journalists, he stated that, when he received this message, “he was close to undergoing heart surgery”, leaving the case aside, since the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic had already said that it would be possible to comply with the request .
