Chanting ‘Grândola, Vila Morena’, the President of the Republic left the hemicycle, accompanied by Aguiar-Branco and Montenegro. Members of the Government stood up while the left sang a song by Zeca Afonso.

While the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, come down from the Table, after playing and singing the national anthem, the deputies from the left-wing parties stand up and sing the ‘password’ of freedom: Grândola, Vila Morena.

The benches of the Socialist Party, Bloco de Esquerda, PCP, Livre and PAN sang Zeca Afonso’s song, standing up and holding a harpsichord. While the left-wing parties sang, Chega deputies left the room. The two CDS-PP deputies and the Social Democrats who were in the front row also left the room.

The soldiers who carried out the Carnation Revolution accompanied the deputies. Several members of the Government remained in the hemicycle while the parties sang the April song.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa left the room singing Grândola, Vila Morena. Aguiar-Branco and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro accompanied the departure of the President of the Republic.

The deputies from the Liberal Initiative and the vast majority of deputies from the Social Democratic Party remained in the room, although without singing.
