Prince Harry will return to Britain to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in May, before joining his wife Meghan on a visit to Nigeria, his spokesman announced on Sunday.

Harry, King Charles’ youngest son, lives in the United States with his wife Meghan and their two children, after having stopped working as a member of the royal family in 2020.

Since his departure from the life of the monarchy, the prince has only returned to Great Britain on a few special occasions, such as the funeral of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2022, and his father’s coronation in May 2023.

Harry’s spokesman said the king’s second son will attend a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8 to celebrate the Invictus Games, the international sporting event he founded for the military. injured in combat.

Harry served as a military helicopter pilot in Afghanistan and Invictus organizers said the ceremony aims to mark “a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport”.

The event will include readings by Harry and British actor Damian Lewis. Wounded veterans and members of the Invictus community will also be present.

After that, Harry will be accompanied to Nigeria by Meghan. The prince’s spokesman said the couple were invited by the country’s chief of staff, the country’s highest military officer. No further details were provided about that trip.

It was last February that Harry was last seen in Britain for a brief meeting with his father, after the monarch announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

On Friday, the palace said Carlos would return to his public duties after making good progress following treatment and a period of recovery.
