Ruben Aguiar was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for the hit and run of a man, in April 2023, outside a gas station, in Alcochete.
The singer broke his silence about the conviction, on social media, last Sunday, the 28th.
“I demonstrated my regret and apologized to the victim several times in court. Yesterday, on SIC’s ‘Linha Aberta’ program, I clarified some situations. I inform everyone that, yes, I will appeal”, he began by writing.
“The victim said, at trial, that he was already turned away and on the sidewalk when I allegedly attacked him in false faith. This does not correspond to what the video conveys, nor to what happened. I have never attacked anyone, much less for the back,” he continued.
“I was traveling in my own peace, when I was approached by the victim, hugging and shouting in the middle of the road. I tried to move forward, going around him, but he punched the hood of my car, stopping me from getting out of the car. I was tired, with few hours of sleep and after a three-hour car trip, I was scared,” he recalled. Ruben Aguiar.
“Yes, there is a victim, which is not me. As I said in court, I am willing to assume all the costs, to help this gentleman who is in much better health”, he concluded.
