Brazilian drummer Eloy Casagrande was announced yesterday (30) as the newest masked member of Slipknot, replacing Jay Weinberg, who was fired from the American metal group at the end of 2023. The information had been confirmed last week by CBN.

The band published a photo of Eloy to officially welcome the new member — something that is not a common practice for Slipknot. On her own social networks, Eloy wrote:

“A very emotional moment. Unthinkable until then. There is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. There is only living. We are here as one. Thank you Slipknot for believing in me. Thank you to all the maggots and fans around the world. See you on the road, my Slipknotos.”

But the speech that caught the attention of social media was that of Eloy’s mother, Lidia Casagrande. She wrote a long comment talking about her son’s perseverance and talent, saying her heart “explodes with joy.”

Internet users were moved by the message and reacted to the moment, with lines such as “Nothing more Brazilian than this”, “When you have good support, dreams come true” and “Mother is the coolest thing in the world”.

Slipknot will perform in Brazil later this year at Knotfest, a festival organized by the group. They will be the main attraction of the two-day event, on October 19th and 20th, at Allianz Parque.

Eloy Casagrande began to stand out early in his career, participating in several drum competitions in the United States. He also appeared on the show “Se Vira nos 30” playing the instrument on Domingão do Faustão.

The drummer was a member of Sepultura until March 2024. At the beginning of the year, he was already mentioned as a possible new member of Slipknot, but he denied it and joked about the situation.
