The Princes of Wales, William and Kate, released a photograph of their daughter Charlotte to mark the princess’s ninth birthday, this Thursday. In the photograph, taken in recent days by her mother, the couple’s second daughter was pictured smiling in the garden of her home in Windsor.

“Happy 9th anniversary, Princess Charlotte!”, says the message on the couple’s X account. “Thank you for all the nice messages today,” she added.

It has become a tradition for Kensington Palace to release images taken by Kate, an amateur photographer, to mark birthdays and other family occasions.

However, a photograph published this year on Mother’s Day, celebrated in March in the United Kingdom, was removed by several news organizations, including Reuters, because it had been edited, for which the princess later apologized.

This happened shortly before Kate revealed that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy, after tests carried out following major abdominal surgery that she underwent in January revealed the existence of cancer.

Last month, the heir to the throne, William, resumed his official duties, but Kate will only return to public life when her medical team says she is well enough to do so. Also diagnosed with cancer in February, King Charles III returned to public engagements this week.
