This Monday, May 6th, Rui Santos he took to social media to talk about his diagnosis: he found out last year that he had cancer. The news took many by surprise, as only his closest friends knew and, only last week, the actor told his mother.
“On March 13, 2023 I received the results of a biopsy and I was diagnosed with cancer, I underwent surgery after 3 weeks at the IPO (Portuguese Institute of Oncology), the surgery went well and the entire area was removed“he began by writing in the caption of the publication.
“Right now I am being monitored, as in all cancer cases. So I’m fine, it was discovered in time and I’m calm and optimistic. Thank you for the messages of concern and affection”he added.

And he continued: “I pay here my sincere tribute to the entire IPO team and the extraordinary work they perform, I was surrendered to the spirit of humanity and respect for the sick. I can’t describe in words what I felt in that institution. A big hug to all those true heroes who save lives every day.”he said.
“Only my true friends knew thisI decided to tell what happened in the first person publicly to avoid misunderstandings. I only told my mom last week because I didn’t want her to know.
Now everything is clear and here are some more good years of life, life is wonderful.”he finished.
