It is on the evening of this Monday, May 6th, that several celebrities will head to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, United States, for another edition of the Met Gala. Known for being the most exclusive and extravagant fashion event of the year, where only those who are invited can take part and each place costs almost 70 thousand euros (which then goes towards maintaining the museum’s fashion and costume department ), this is the event where celebrities show their passion for fashion depending on the chosen theme.

However, this stage sometimes also serves to reveal some news and is the space where many celebrities like to tell the world “I’m dating this person”. Whether it’s a total surprise or the first time they appear together on a red carpet (even after the relationship is already official), there are many celebrities who like to make a statement at the Met Gala. Yet, it turns out, these same couples may be destined to fail from the start.

According to “People” magazine, several couples who made their red carpet debut at this event split up shortly afterwards. This is the case of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, whose rumors of a possible relationship began in October 2021 and the couple appeared together for the first time at the Met Gala in May 2023. Three months later, it fell apart — and this seems to have haunted the Kardashian-Jenner sisters.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott also ended their relationship in 2019 (one of the several times they were together) after making their red carpet debut at the 2018 edition of the Met Gala. The couple, who have two children, Stormi and Aire, still tried to turn the relationship around, but officially separated in August 2023, and Kylie is now in a relationship with Timothée Chalamet. Will they make their debut on the treadmill this year?

In addition to these names, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez also made their debut on the Met Gala red carpet in 2017, having created another memory at this event when, in 2019, they announced that they were engaged. However, two years later, Jennifer and Alex decided to go their separate ways, releasing a statement in which they said they realized they were better friends than lovers, according to the same means of communication.
