Gaming operator Wynn Macau profits quadruple

The company highlighted that, with the end of restrictions linked to the covid-19 pandemic, the number of visitors recovered, “resulting in an increase in business volume”according to a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange.

The two properties operated by Wynn Macau recorded revenues of US$998.6 million (929.9 million euros) between January and March, an increase of two thirds (66.4%) compared to the same period in 2023.

The Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace casinos were responsible for the majority of the company’s turnover, collecting US$820.1 million (€763.6 million) in revenue, 83.4% more than in the first quarter of last year.

The strong momentum we felt in our business throughout 2023 continued to grow during the first quarter“, said, in the same note, Craig Billings, executive director of the parent company, Wynn Resorts, which includes properties in the United States.

The Chinese special administrative region received more than 8.8 million visitors in the first quarter of this year, 79.4% more than in the same period of 2023 and a figure that represents 85.7% of that recorded before the start of the pandemic.

Casinos in the region closed the first quarter of this year with total revenue of 53.3 billion patacas (6.1 billion euros), an increase of 65.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Six gambling concessionaires, MGM, Galaxy, Venetian, Melco, Wynn and SJM, operate in Macau, the only place in China where casino gambling is legal.
