A pioneer in specialized assistance, Arapiraca celebrates autism awareness week with special programming

In reference to Autism Awareness Day, celebrated on April 2, Arapiraca City Hall, through the Municipal Health Department, launched a special program focused on demystifying information regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The city is a pioneer in specialized care and has an exclusive space for assistance to autistic children. The first public space linked to the SUS dedicated to specialized care for children and adolescents with ASD, Trate was opened in 2011 by Mayor Luciano Barbosa and today assists more than 100 patients.

The team is made up of specialists in psychology and speech therapy, social workers, occupational therapists and nurses. Together, these professionals work to develop and promote the quality of life of these young people, teaching them how to work on socialization.

With the theme “Value abilities and respect limits!”, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the needs and rights of autistic people, promoting knowledge and breaking stigmas. Check the schedule:
