‘This black thing’, says RS councilor about people who received resources during the pandemic

A councilor from Canguçu, in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, gave a racist statement during the session held on Monday (4). Francisco Vilela (PL), known as Xico Vilela, used the expression “this black girl” to refer to people who received resources from the federal government during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Bah, no ‘drip-drip’ payment came. With that money from Covid, these black people in the states went down and rolled. Applause for Bolsonaro, applause for whoever sent the money,” said the councilor.

A RBS TV contacted councilor Francisco Vilela this Thursday morning (25), but had no response until the publication of this report.

The Quilombola and Black Movement of Canguçu repudiated the statements and called for the councilor to be punished. “It is unacceptable for an authority occupying a seat in the Legislative branch to break parliamentary decorum and offend the black community”he stated.
