Arapongas City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Works, is beginning the cleaning and renovation of the building that formerly belonged to RFFSA, located next to the Department of Culture (former railway station). The building, which also served as a cement distributor in the 1970s and, more recently, was provided for the installation of a snack bar, suffered damage due to vandals and homeless people. In recent months, the building has also started to be used by indigenous people as a place to stay overnight. “The first step was to request the Indians to vacate, a task that involved the Social Assistance Secretariat. Now, in work between the Departments of Works and Environment, we are going to clean the entire site, removing debris and other items that were left behind”, announces the Secretary of Works, Fernando Volpato.
According to him, as soon as all the internal and external cleaning is completed, renovation work will begin on the electrical and hydraulic installations, painting and installation of blindex glass, actions scheduled to begin next week. “The intention of the municipal administration is to move all personnel who practice martial arts to this space, which is approximately 600 meters long, through the Municipal Sports Department. We know that there is no point in renovating if there is no immediate occupation and efficient management of the space”, concludes the Secretary of Works.
