Adopted in 2020 during the pandemic Covid-19O remote workalso called home office, was used as a form of social distancing, one of the measures to avoid contagion and spread the virus.

After four years, only 7% of companies continue to work entirely from home. Among professionals, 77% prefer the hybrid model, with some days working from home and others in the office – according to the Robert Half survey, 58% of companies are offering this model.

According to the consultancy, “the growth in the number of companies opting to return to entirely face-to-face activities is noticeable.”

To carry out the survey, the company interviewed 1,161 professionals, including recruiters, employed qualified professionals and unemployed qualified professionals, distributed proportionally across the regions of Brazil.

The study indicated that the obligation to work 100% in person would lead 65% of professionals to look for a new job; 43% said they would accept going to the office and staying at the company, however, they would look for a new job and leave when they had the opportunity; for 22%, returning to the office permanently is not even an option.

“For some professionals, the office environment provides a sense of belonging and connection with the team, in addition to facilitating the exchange of ideas and collaborative learning”, says Fernando Mantovani, general director of Robert Half for South America, in note issued by the consultancy. He further adds that, “for some people, in-person work can represent a clearer separation between personal and professional life, helping to maintain a healthy balance between the two aspects of life.”

The preference for maintaining hybrid work declared by most professionals may be related to the desire to maintain flexibility, autonomy and quality of life.

“It is important to recognize that different work models will not please everyone in the same way, and not all businesses have the flexibility to offer alternatives to employees. It is up to each party to analyze their needs and possibilities, seeking to find a balance that meets both individual demands regarding corporate requirements, regardless of the format adopted”, says the executive.
