Health workers in public and private services must protect themselves against Influenza

João Pessoa City Hall warns health workers in public and private services, at different levels of complexity, to look for a vaccination room and receive the dose of the vaccine that protects against strains of the Influenza A virus (H1N1 and H3N2) and for a type B strain (Victoria lineage). In the capital, this group represents 11.14% of vaccinated people. The vaccine is available in all health services in the municipal network, from 7 am, and at mobile points until 9 pm.

Infection with the Influenza virus can lead to serious cases or even kill more vulnerable populations. “Observing the increase in cases of respiratory syndromes and people seeking health services, we advise that in addition to vaccination, workers who work in hospitals, clinics, outpatient clinics and other health establishments, adopt the use of masks and hand hygiene with alcohol in gel”, advised Fernando Virgolino, head of the Immunization Section of João Pessoa.

Influenza and Covid-19 continue to be threats to public health, especially for unvaccinated people. Therefore, the Ministry of Health recommends taking advantage of the opportunity of the Influenza vaccination campaign to update the vaccination status for Covid-19 in eligible groups.

Expansion of assistance – Last week, the campaign was expanded to all audiences and João Pessoa City Hall began making vaccines available for babies aged 6 months and older, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly. The vaccine, administered annually to eligible groups, is indicated to protect against the Influenza virus and complications of the disease, mainly secondary bacterial pneumonia.

For children between 6 months and 8 years of age, two doses are recommended if it is their first contact with the immunizing agent (primary vaccination), with an interval of one month, and a single dose in the following years.

Protection against dengue – The vaccine is currently being recommended for children and adolescents aged 10 to 14 years, with a two-dose regimen, with a three-month interval between doses. If the user has contact with the disease before the vaccine, it is recommended to wait six months before starting the vaccination schedule with the dengue vaccine (attenuated). If the infection occurs after the start of the regimen, there is no change in the interval between D1 and D2, as long as D2 is not performed less than 30 days after the onset of the disease.

Documentation – For vaccination, it is important to present an official document with a photo or registration of the child or adolescent, the SUS Card and the vaccination card or booklet.

Home Vaccination – For people who are bedridden and restricted to bed, it is necessary to make an appointment by calling (83) 98645-7727. Vaccines are available at homes, from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.
