João Montez is today’s guest on the section ‘When I Was Little’of Fame by the Minutewhere he shares some memories of his childhood.
Your favorite dish as a child (and who prepared it) and the food you didn’t like that you like now?
Well, it’s a favorite childhood dish that still survives today: Bacalhau à Brás. My grandmother always made it and I have very good memories even from the moment it was made! I believe that the testimony was passed on to my mother who, for example, around Christmas, still does it – purposely (and only) – for me. A little bit of a break from the cooked cod.
Who was the person you most admired?
I have two. My grandmother, precisely (the same one from Bacalhau à Brás) and my father. For all the sacrifices I know they made throughout their lives.
What was the best vacation when you were little?
I have incredible memories of holidays in Porto Santo, Madeira. I even regret not visiting this island more often.
What day did you go back to in childhood? It’s because?
At any party (or soiree) organized by the school I attended… I believe that today, if I could go back to those moments, I would benefit even more! Still, I would also quickly go back to any of the moments (or afternoons) spent with my grandmother. I would be very happy.
Complete the sentence: If I went back to my childhood, I would never… I would think I had all the time in the world. This really goes by very quickly. She would enjoy it even more.
