The Department of Transport and Mobility (Semob-DF) is intensifying work to combat possible mosquito breeding sites Aedes aegypti, dengue vector. Since the beginning of the year, 47 structures have had their roofs filled and waterproofed and 250 roofs have been cleaned. The renovation of 30 shelters with full maintenance has also been authorized to begin in the next few days. The actions are being carried out in the administrative regions with the highest incidence of the disease in the Federal District.

The filling of roofs was carried out in Ceilândia, Taguatinga and Samambaia, totaling 47 works. More shelters are scheduled to receive renovations in the coming days. In this work, the slabs are filled with Styrofoam followed by a layer of cement and waterproofed with an aluminum blanket, aiming to solve the problem of water accumulation.

The action is planned for Arapoanga, Guará, Ceilândia, Taguatinga, Recanto das Emas, Vicente Pires (EPTG marginal), Sudoeste/Octogonal and Plano Piloto. The contract provides for the renovation of 600 shelters in total.

With the urgency due to the dengue epidemic, another team works to clean bus stops in partnership with Novacap, regional administrations and Health Surveillance.

“We are committed to combating the dengue mosquito and ensuring the health of the DF population. We will continue with the actions as long as necessary”, explained the Secretary of Transport and Mobility, Zeno Gonçalves.

The population can request renovations, waterproofing and cleaning of bus shelters via the Ombudsman’s website, by calling 162 or directly at regional administrations.
