+ Flu, cold, pneumonia, Covid-19 or virus? Know how to identify diseases in autumn

With the arrival of autumn, there is a greater prevalence of respiratory diseases such as rhinitis, sinusitis, flu and colds. The director of the Epidemiological Surveillance Center (CVE) of the State Department of Health, Tatiana Lang D’Agostini, explains that the change of season leads to an increase in cases, which can be prevented with vaccination.

“This period increases acute respiratory diseases, therefore, to prevent the spread of the virus, it is essential to adopt prevention measures and get immunized. In 2023, we had 53% coverage across the entire state. The goal now is for it to surpass the previous year’s numbers, ensuring that as many people as possible are immunized”, says Tatiana.

In total, CVE received more than 1.7 million doses of the vaccine against the influenza virus from the Ministry of Health. The vaccine — a single dose for adults — is responsible for reducing the risk of respiratory complications and pneumonia in the event of infection. When receiving it for the first time, children aged six to 23 months must take two doses.
