The Government of the Federal District (GDF), through the Department of Health (SES-DF), informs that the new 11 tents to welcome patients with dengue symptoms will begin operating next week, totaling 20 tents in the federal capital. With daily service, from 7am to 7pm, the facilities have hydration and care centers, providing continuous support to users. Of this total, three will operate 24 hours a day.

“Added to the existing tents, the new points will prevent the population from going to a hospital to get care. This is reflected in a faster response to symptoms.”

Lucilene Florêncio, Secretary of Health

The name of the responsible entity was published in an extra edition of the DF Official Gazette (DODF) on Friday (15). With the choice, four more health regions will be covered: Central, Central-South, East and South.

“The measure seeks, mainly, to guarantee greater access to care during the dengue epidemic, relieving other units in the network. At the first symptoms, people should look for a UBS or the nearest tent”, says the coordinator of Primary Health Care, Sandra Araújo de França.

Each tent must be staffed daily by at least the following professionals: a coordinator; three doctors, one of whom is a pediatrician; a nurse; two nursing technicians; two laboratory technicians; a laboratory specialist (biomedical or biochemical pharmacist); two administrative supports; a pharmacist; cleaning staff and security staff.

Extended assistance

Since the beginning of the year, the department has already had nine hydration tents, spread across various regions of the DF: Sol Nascente, Brazlândia, Ceilândia, Estrutural, Recanto das Emas, Samambaia, Santa Maria, São Sebastião and Sobradinho. To support care at UBSs, between January 20th and March 14th, the spaces served more than 63 thousand patients, an average of 1.2 thousand per day.

In the same period, the tents that had the greatest movement were those in Samambaia (11.3 thousand visits), Ceilândia (10 thousand) and Recanto das Emas (7.7 thousand). Despite this, all other regions presented high numbers of demand: Santa Maria (7.2 thousand), São Sebastião (6.7 thousand), Sol Nascente (5.8 thousand), Brazlândia (5.5 thousand), Estrutural ( 4.7 thousand) and Sobradinho (3.7 thousand).

“Added to the existing tents, the new points will prevent the population from going to a hospital to get care. This is reflected in a faster response to symptoms”, explains the Secretary of Health, Lucilene Florêncio. “I also reinforce that all UBSs continue to treat dengue cases, with an increase in hydration rooms,” she says. The network has extended the opening hours of several basic units, including on Saturdays and Sundays. More information is on the folder’s website.
