The records of dengue in Pelotas continue to demand attention and great care part of the population. The State government’s dengue monitoring panel classified, this week, the municipality at alert level three, based on the increase in the number of confirmed cases of the disease, which creach 91 throughout the city.

According to the director of Health Surveillance, Aline Machado, confirmed cases have been increasing due to the moment we are facing. “After a period of investigation of cases and in the impossibility of specific laboratory confirmation or for situations with inconclusive laboratory results, we consider confirmation with clinical-epidemiological criteria, that is, a patient with consistent symptoms of the disease and a link to dengue cases in the same region that circulated”, he explained.

Still according to state monitoring, which serves as a support tool for municipal management, Pelotas is, this epidemiological week, with level three alert and status as an infested municipality, which requires greater attention and care from the population with prevention measures, in addition expansion of work to combat the Aedes mosquito.

Pay attention to measures to combat mosquitoes

The survey by the Municipal Health Department showed that last year ended with a total of 330 mosquito outbreaks, identified and worked on to prevent proliferation, as measures that require public awareness, mainly to receive agents in homes and allow for the work of inspection. Other fundamental initiatives to care for environments, people and domestic animals follow.

– Keep water tanks covered or sealed

– Store bottles and containers with the opening facing down

– Do not accumulate tires outdoors and always dispose of them in designated locations

– Keep potted plant dishes with sand or dry

– Eliminate containers that serve to accumulate water

– Use bleach, at least once a week, in drains

– Keep yards clean and swept.

– Regularly clean the animals’ food and water bowls

– Use of body repellent, to prevent the transmission of the disease through bites and also to prevent a mosquito from becoming infected when biting an infected person and spreading dengue

– Clean containers that have been left with stagnant water to prevent mosquito eggs that have been deposited from hatching later.

– Place screens on doors and windows of homes to act as barriers

– The use of mosquito nets in beds is also recommended, especially for bedridden people and children who are more susceptible to bites

Assistance when identifying symptoms

If any symptoms appear, such as high fever, headache, pain in the joints or behind the eyes, and red spots on the body, the Municipality recommends seeking care at the nearest Basic Health Unit (UBS) and not using medication on your own. . It is also recommended to consume plenty of water.
