The Guarulhos Health Department advises residents that all health services in the city are prepared to deal with suspected and confirmed cases of dengue, and clarifies that patients with mild symptoms should seek one of the 69 Basic Health Units (UBS) when they present symptoms such as fever, headache, eye pain, malaise, lack of appetite and body pain.
At the first sign of these symptoms, it is necessary to look for the nearest UBS, as they are the gateway to the Unified Health System (SUS). In the medical service, severity is classified, which will guide treatment and follow-up. The patient also receives guidance on intense hydration (with serum and other liquids), in an amount that will be calculated according to body weight.
In the most serious situations, when there is severe pain in the stomach, persistent vomiting, bleeding in the nose, mouth or stool, dizziness and a lot of tiredness, patients should seek the network’s Emergency Care Units (UPAs and PAs).
By seeking care at the UBS, patients contribute to reducing the burden on hospitals, PAs and UPAs, which are full of cases considered mild, reserving these services for the most serious cases of the disease.
