On April 7, 1948, several countries around the world came together and created WHO (World Health Organization), whose objective was to provide opportunities and mobilize support for awareness, actions and stimulate research on the main priorities for health and well-being. be of everyone. A noble and necessary ideal for the development of projects and actions to improve the health of the planet’s population.

After 76 years, many advances have occurred, both in medicine in general, as well as in public health and in the area of Orthopedics and Traumatology. Improvement of diagnoses, surgical techniques, improvement of the quality of life of populations in different regions of the world.

Trying to balance technology and resource progress, with balanced costs and decent remuneration, is becoming the main pillar of the coming years

With this in mind, in 1966, the Revista Brasileira de Ortopedia (RBO) was created, becoming a national landmark for Brazilian scientific articles and helping to advance Orthopedics in our country.

After a year, in 1967, the Specialist Title (TEOT) was created, which at the time was granted by the Brazilian Medical Association, strengthening the qualification and teaching of the Specialty in the country.

Health evolved, with the advancement of medicine, and improvement became necessary, until in 1972, the first Specialist Title test (TEOT) was created, a reference in professional qualification within the specialty.

There have been many advances, with several challenges, but what in the past were biological and medical issues, today it is the professionals’ relationships with supplementary health, which need to advance, with multiple needs. Trying to balance technology and resource progress, with balanced costs and decent remuneration, is becoming the main pillar of the coming years.

The focus has changed over time, but in all ways of seeing Health, there is the figure of the Medical professional, as a central axis to guide actions and drive advances in science and health, with the beneficiary being the well-being of people and society as a whole. Seeing the professional, providing working conditions and decent remuneration means working for everyone’s health.
